I just read the file “When dressage becomes perversion” (thanks again a lot to our translators) and I react to the subject debated higher: “Notes record”. I was looking at the dressage competition on Equidia and listening to the comments of Bernard Maurel, I felt quite uncomfortable: If B.Maurel sees, like us, (I tried to remember its own terms) horses that are agitating their tail, ears lying; too low napes; too hard hands; stops that are not respected, irregular walks and piaffers while advancing; he (B.Maurel) minimizes then these indicators and finds excellent the precision and “the harmony” (sic) , so excellent that he attributes the best score to a prestation that, we all know it here, was made possible by a cruel perversion. However B.Maurel belongs to our association. How can we declare the war against these methods when they are guaranteed by a notorious member of A.I? Quid of our credibility? Does B. Maurel read our files?:) What to think about it?
P.S: read on Cavadeos, AVG did not come to Aachen, wearied by all the German criticisms about her.

PODER Catherine: You have brought up a very good and sensitive point. I am from across the sea and do not know any personalities here on this board. So, I don't know the stories at all.

I know that there is Politics going on and our horses are at the reins of those who are "pro, con, and indifferent". I only wish the horses could talk and tell us what they think and what they feel. I only can imagine in my "own mind" but then others will dispute that as well. I know where I am with this subject. I will not be able to change peoples thinking. I feel bad that the International judges are commending this riding.

I show much on the national level and I have to say that the judges are pretty good with their thinking. When a top horse gets a 9 in an extended trot which barely sees the back foot come over the front then I am afraid that there is something very wrong. When pirouettes are the size of a 4 meter circle something is seriously wrong with even a 7..............when a horse moves 2 meters in piaffe and gets an 8 then what is happening to our judging on international levels?

Maybe we need to wait until a new set of eyes are in the "boxes" and are not afraid to keep the classical training alive. I think that it does have to start here. When judges reward this in international competition, how else will the rest of the world look at this?

This is a subject dear to my heart,
gigi
